PaydayPERX Privacy Policy

Last updated 15 October 2008

The privacy policy at PaydayPERX applies to the collection, storage, and use of any personal information that may be available to PaydayPERX anytime you interact with PaydayPERX, such as when you visit our website, when you purchase gift certificates or other products, or when you call our support associates. You can check here to learn more about our information philosophy, information collection practices, and how we protect your personal information. The first line of defense for your personal information is to take care where it winds up; PaydayPERX is guided by an executive team keenly aware of unscrupulous practices on the internet and even among businesses that provide services similar to ours. As such we strive to go the extra mile to reassure you that we are not collecting a single piece of information about you or your usage behavior without your knowledge and active consent, and that what we do collect is not accessible by or available to anyone outside of our organization, under any conditions, period.

The Information Privacy Philosophy of PaydayPERX
Most websites eagerly and actively collect and store data about you, whether you realize it or not and whether you enter any data into any forms on the site or not. Visiting any page on the internet sends information back to the servers that deliver it to you, and simple programming can be employed to surreptitiously collect your email address, your IP data, your site of origin, what browser and browser plugins you have available, and much more. On the one hand, for your browser to submit proper requests to internet servers and for you to even be able to view sites on the internet, some of this information must be transferred from your client machine to the server where it resides. On the other hand, there is a major difference between simply allowing the data to flow and storing it for the future. The philosophy regarding information privacy at PaydayPERX is a simple one - to collect absolutely no data that is not necessary, and to provide virtually anonymous site access to anyone who wishes it. The only things we will know about you are what you choose to tell us, and we will not tell anyone else what you told us, ever. a corollary to this philosophy is that the best security is achieved by not collecting the information in the first place. Plenty of internet companies much more sophisticated than PaydayPERX have found themselves unable to protect the data they've collected from malicious third party individuals, and rather than go to the considerable expense and difficulty of locking down this data in high-security data servers, we don't collect it in the first place. Nothing can be lost or stolen because nothing is recorded in the fist palce. As such we don't ask you anything that we don't need to know, and we don't keep the information any longer than we reasonably need it for use - on a customer service issue, for example, its up to you whether we keep a record of your issue once it is resolved. We're in the business of succeeding by helping others succeed, whether it's our payroll check and W2 exhibitor partners or our advertisers; we're not in the data management business, which is best left to other companies far better at it than we are.

When does PaydayPERX need your information?
To use the main features of the site, that is, browsing and activating special discounts on online purchases, we collect absolutely no personally identifying information about you or your browsing habits. That's not to say that no one knows you've been here, but it means that the only evidence you've left behind is adding 1 to the report of cumulative impressions or click-throughs based on what, if anything, you looked at on the site. We couldn't trace a click back to a person, or even a purchase back to an individual person, even if our business depended on it. We can't even match a purchase to an IP address or an email address. Keep in mind, though, that this data may be collected by our affiliate network partners - the people that handle the commission splits between PaydayPERX and a number of our merchants to provide safe, secure third-party auditability and metrics tracking for all parties concerned. Unfortunately we have no control over their privacy policies but they also do not actively hoard personally identifying information as it has no value to them either. When PaydayPERX discloses your information
PaydayPERX takes your privacy very seriously. Be assured that we do not sell or rent or give your personal information to anyone outside of our company for any purposes whatsoever. To help us provide superior service, we may share necessary information with business partners with whom you have a sales dispute of some kind, and they will safeguard it in accordance with their own privacy policy. Business partners and merchants that we work with all have their own privacy policies and you must make yourself familiar with them before you make a purchase with them; PaydayPERX also has no control over the privacy policies of other businesses that we work with. If you have any concern or complaint regarding how a merchant handled your personal information please let us know using the feedback form and we will investigate it promptly.

How PaydayPERX protects your personal information
PaydayPERX protects your information first of all by not collecting it unless we actually need it for something at the time of the collection. When we do need your information, such as when you are sending us feedback or initiating an order inquiry, we take precautions to safeguard your personal information against loss, theft, and misuse, as well as unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, and destruction.

You can help us by also taking precautions to protect your personal data when you are on the Internet. Change your passwords often using a combination of letters and numbers, and make sure you use a secure web browser with its security settings activated to at least the low level if not higher, depending on your comfort level and surfing habits.

Cookies and other technologies

At some point in the future we will likely be implementing cookies and sessions in order to add more functionality to the site and make it easier to use and more useful to you as a valued customer. When this happens, you will always have the option of opting not to be tracked. We only anticipate using this for anonymous tracking (cumulative data, in other words, about how many users spent how long on what pages) at this time, though in the future you may be able to have custom elements like games, theme music, or item/offer watch lists that will require that the server can match you up to your custom settings. We will not ever use these to track you as an individual or to make any sort of contact with you, nor will we pass your information on to any third party except for the data required by our servers which are themselves hosted by a third party for maximum reliability and security.
